Eyjafjallajokull lava hiking

Pick-up is at 9.30am at your hotel. We drive to Basar in Thorsmork on the south coast of Iceland. On the way we drive past the glacier Eyjafjallajokull. Our hike starts in Basar and it is quite steep. It takes us about 3-4 hours to reach the new lava fields. We explore the lava for a while and even visit the new volcano that erupted in the spring 2010 before heading back the same way we came. The new lava is in between the two glaciers (volcanoes/glaciers) Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull (with volcano Katla) so you will see both glaciers up close.

In this tour we explore some of the most precious nature in Iceland.

Price is ISK 25.000 per person. A minimum of 2 persons is required. Duration of the tour is up to 12 hours.

Please notice that you need good and solid hiking boots on your feet, warm clothes, some food for the journey and definitely 1-2 litres of water.

You need to be in normal health for participating in this tour with strong hips and knees.
If you are afraid of heights you should not participate in this tour.

Level of difficulty: Hard.

Departure: Every day during the summer. Please notice that this tour is only available during the summer.

We might have to postpone or cancel some of the tours to the new lava fields if the weather forecast is bad or Mother Nature forbids travelling in the area.
